Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why finetune?

Finetune.im offers a number of affordable and professional website packages. We offer smart websites with no unwanted advertising that work well on all devices.

At finetune, we integrate our own work with specific code and scripts that we purchase from professional developers. Over the years, we have built a substantial library of components that we can use and re-use. Think of tailor-made clothing as an analogy: tailors don’t often make their own cloth - instead they fit the cloth they have to the customer’s requirements. We basically do the digital equivalent of that. We combine the components you require and fit them to your chosen house-style to create your website. It’s the finetune attention to detail and your content that makes your website come alive. Using this method reduces the time required for each website to be built - making your website substantially cheaper than a bespoke website made from scratch.

  • Who are we?

finetune.im was created by Russell Gilmour - a professional trumpet player and an advanced Apple computer user, originally from the Isle of Man.

The name finetune.im combines three key aspects: a strong musical association, a dedication to achieving optimum results and .im, the country code domain for the Isle of Man.
Russell started creating websites in 2002 inspired by several influential teachers (Jim Hunter, Maff Long and Alex Townsend) while studying at St. Ninian’s High School on the Isle of Man.

Russell went on to study music at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where he met the up-and-coming, now highly-successful developer - Nik Fletcher. Nik encouraged Russell to make his own website: russellgilmour.co.uk - which he has now run for over a decade. It has attracted an impressive global audience and his blog has received over 22.5k views to date.

The success and design of his personal website spurred visitors to contact Russell to ask whether he would be willing to create websites for them. Russell has built a reputation as an adept designer of websites - particularly among his contacts in the music profession - with over 20 completed website projects to date.

In 2015, Russell decided to create finetune.im in order to separate the website and hosting services from the professional trumpet-playing information on russellgilmour.co.uk

Commissioning a bespoke website can be a costly endeavour. At finetune.im we create professional-quality websites at affordable prices.

We can offer this because we integrate our own work with specific code and scripts that we purchase from professional developers. Over the years, we have built a substantial library of components that we can use and re-use.

We then combine the required components, matching them to your chosen house style to create your website. Then we finetune it - it's our attention to detail and your content that makes your finetune website come alive.

Using this method reduces the time required for each website to be built - making your website substantially cheaper than a bespoke website made from scratch.
